Petrol, Diesel, and Gas Prices to Increase from July 1 in Pakistan

Fuel and gas prices are set to increase significantly in Pakistan starting July 1, 2025, adding further pressure on already inflation-hit citizens.

According to officials from the Petroleum Division, petrol prices are expected to go up by Rs.11 per litre, while high-speed diesel (HSD) may rise by up to Rs.15 per litre. The surge is attributed to rising global crude oil prices and the ongoing depreciation of the Pakistani rupee.

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) is expected to send its price recommendation to the Ministry of Petroleum today, with the Finance Minister and Prime Minister set to finalize the new rates later this evening.

These increases follow the previous hike on June 16, when petrol rose by Rs.4.80 and diesel by Rs.7.95 per litre.

In a separate development, OGRA has issued a notification announcing a steep rise in gas tariffs across various consumer categories, also effective July 1. Domestic consumers will now pay between Rs.200 and Rs.4,200 per MMBTU, depending on their usage bracket. Additionally, fixed monthly charges have been introduced for household gas users.

The combined impact of fuel and gas price hikes is likely to deepen the economic burden on the public, raising concerns over cost-of-living and inflation.
