The Trump administration is reportedly working on a proposal to tighten entry restrictions for citizens of several countries, with Pakistan being placed on a list that imposes strict visa limitations, according to The New York Times.

The plan categorizes nations into three groups—red, orange, and yellow—each facing different levels of restrictions. Pakistan is included in the “orange” tier, which would allow entry only for affluent business travelers while barring those seeking immigrant or tourist visas.

Pakistani citizens would also be required to attend in-person interviews to obtain a visa. The most stringent restrictions apply to the “red” list, which includes countries such as Afghanistan, Iran, North Korea, Syria, and Venezuela.

Citizens from these nations would be subject to a complete travel ban. Meanwhile, the “yellow” tier consists of countries that have been given a 60-day period to address U.S. concerns regarding security and immigration policies.

The proposal stems from an executive order issued by President Trump on January 20, instructing the State Department to reassess visa policies. If implemented, the plan could significantly impact travel for individuals from Pakistan and several other nations.
