New Gas Supply Schedule Announced for Ramadan

Residents of Karachi will face continued gas shortages during Ramadan as Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) has announced a new supply schedule, ensuring availability during Sehr and Iftar.

Despite the end of winter, uninterrupted gas supply remains a challenge, forcing many households to rely on costly LPG as an alternative.

An SSGC spokesperson assured that domestic consumers would have gas during Sehr and Iftar preparation times. However, he cited a 10% annual decline in the country’s gas reserves as a major factor behind the ongoing supply issues.

To manage pressure levels, the company will implement gas profiling measures, suspending supply from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm and again from 10:00 pm to 3:00 am throughout Ramazan.

According to the spokesperson, gas will be available between 3:30 pm and 10:00 pm for Iftar and dinner preparation, and from 3:00 am to 9:00 am for Sehr and breakfast.

The revised schedule aims to prioritise gas supply during crucial cooking hours, ensuring convenience for citizens observing the holy month. However, many consumers remain frustrated over persistent shortages, which continue to disrupt daily routines.

While the company insists the new plan will help stabilise gas pressure, Karachiites fear ongoing supply gaps will add to their difficulties during Ramazan.
