Google Pay is officially preparing to enter the Pakistani market, with the launch anticipated by mid-March 2025, according to sources close to the matter.
The rollout, initially confirmed by Google in November 2024, will be facilitated through collaborations with Visa and Mastercard. Local banks are expected to enable their debit and credit cards for Google Pay integration, allowing users to link their cards via the Google Wallet app.
Although the launch does not include the full range of Google Wallet features, it will focus on introducing Google’s contactless payment system in Pakistan.

The Google Wallet app will also become available in the country, enabling users to manage digital payments, passes, and boarding passes.
Preparations for the launch are underway, with four to six leading banks working alongside Visa and Mastercard to meet the technical requirements.
Pakistan’s payment infrastructure, with 133,000 point-of-sale terminals nationwide, is already well-equipped for mobile contactless payments, with 99% of terminals ready for the service.
The arrival of Google Pay is expected to enhance the digital payments landscape in Pakistan, providing users with a seamless and convenient way to manage transactions while promoting financial inclusion and modernisation.
