Pakistan has been ranked as one of the weakest passport holders globally in the Henley Passport Index for the first half of 2025, securing the 103rd position alongside Yemen.
Pakistani passport holders can travel to only 33 destinations without requiring a prior visa, highlighting the ongoing challenges faced by citizens seeking global mobility.
The index, released by Henley & Partners, assesses the strength of passports based on the number of countries accessible visa-free. Despite minor improvements in global rankings for some nations, Pakistan remains at the bottom tier.

Countries ranked weaker than Pakistan include Iraq at 104th, Syria at 105th, and Afghanistan at 106th—the lowest spot on the index.
Meanwhile, Somalia, Nepal, Palestine, and Bangladesh are positioned just above Pakistan, with Somalia ranked 102nd. Comparatively, regional players like India and China hold stronger positions, ranked at 85th and 60th, respectively.
The Henley Passport Index revealed Singapore as the most powerful passport in 2025, offering visa-free access to 195 destinations. Japan, South Korea, and several European nations dominate the top rankings, with extensive travel privileges.
For Pakistani travelers, these rankings underscore the limitations imposed by their passport, impacting international opportunities and travel freedom. The findings emphasize the need for stronger diplomatic efforts to improve global mobility for Pakistani citizens.
