Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced a new internship program focused on empowering graduates in Fisheries, Aquaculture, and Zoology through hands-on training in shrimp farming.
The program aims to equip young professionals with practical skills to meet the rising demand for shrimp globally, while also contributing to Pakistan’s economy.
Hands-On Training with Monthly Stipend
The six-month internship will be conducted at the Fisheries Department’s shrimp farm in Muzaffargarh, providing participants with a monthly stipend of 50,000 rupees.

This training will cover various aspects of shrimp farming, offering practical experience that could lead to self-employment and financial independence.
Economic Vision for Shrimp Farming
Maryam Nawaz highlighted the revenue potential of shrimp farming, explaining that farming shrimp on 100,000 acres could yield over a billion dollars. She envisions converting South Punjab’s barren lands into productive shrimp farming areas, adding value to unused resources.
Support for Farmers and Job Creation
The program will also offer leased land, incentives, and equipment support to interested farmers and investors, aiming to create 10,000 to 20,000 jobs.
Youth interested in the program can apply through the official online job portal. This initiative marks a significant step toward sustainable job creation and economic growth in Punjab.
