Final-year students from the University of Karachi’s Pharmacy Department have unveiled an innovative, ultra-compact nebuliser that offers on-the-go respiratory therapy.

Designed for convenience, the device is less than an inch wide and operates for up to 35 minutes per charge, lasting two days before recharging is necessary.

The students shared that the eco-friendly nebuliser, made from bioplastics, is particularly useful for office workers and travellers.

With both micro-USB and USB-C charging options, the wireless, soundproof device provides discreet respiratory support.

Abdul Rahman, the team leader, explained that most nebulisers on the market are bulky, noisy, and priced around Rs 8,000 to Rs 10,000, whereas their device costs less than Rs 2,000.

The group aims to make respiratory therapy more accessible, especially for children and the elderly suffering from asthma or chest infections.

The team behind the invention includes Abdul Rahman Siddiqui, Taha Ishaq, Syed Waliuddin, Syeda Arshiya, Zohaib Salman, Maham Zaidi, Priyan Khan, and Tuba Saleem.

They hope this affordable, sustainable device will address pressing healthcare challenges in Pakistan and provide an essential resource for individuals with respiratory conditions.
