Budget 2024-25: Makeup Products Prices Set to Increase Massively

The federal government has increased duties on numerous imported beauty and makeup products in the budget for the fiscal year 2024-25. 

A notification confirmed that duties on 657 such products have been raised following the National Assembly’s approval of the budget proposals.

Specifically, duties on makeup and beauty products have risen by 40 percent, with perfumes and sprays seeing a 20 percent increase. In contrast, duties on imported hair clippers and hair dryers have been reduced to 10 percent.

Furthermore, duties on imported watches, smartwatches, and sunglasses have significantly increased.

The government has also raised regulatory duties on hundreds of imported items for the fiscal year 2024-25. According to the Statutory Regulatory Order (SRO), the new regulatory duties range from 5% to 55% under the Finance Bill 2024, affecting various products such as:

1. Milk and cream (25%)

2. Yogurt, butter, and nuts (20%)

3. Natural honey (30%)

4. Dates, figs, pineapples, and oranges (25%)

5. Cherries (35%)

6. Apples and lemons (45%)

7. Corn (30%)

8. Perfume and makeup (55%)

9. Shaving cream and soap (50%)

10. Overcoats, jackets, and trousers for men and women (10%)

11. Track suits, rompers, shawls, mufflers, and ties (10%)

12. Waterproof shoes, leather shoes, bathroom fixtures, and toilet accessories (regulatory duty increased)

13. Jewelry (45%)
