The Sindh government, led by Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, has allocated a sizeable sum of Rs10 billion in the provincial budget for the fiscal year 2023–2024 in order to improve the public transport system. The purchase of 500 hybrid buses, which are renowned for their high environmental performance and fuel efficiency, is the explicit goal of this allocation.

The province Transport Department has received a total of Rs13.4 billion in addition to the funding for hybrid buses. This budget includes Rs6.1 billion that would go towards creating the “Intra-District Peoples’ Bus Service,” which will be extremely helpful to commuters in the province. To ensure the sustainability and lifespan of the transport network, an additional Rs 2 billion has been set aside for infrastructure upkeep.

The PPP-led government has also allotted Rs600 million for the creation of additional lines in recognition of the significance of extending the reach of public transit. The citizens of Sindh will benefit from better accessibility and convenience thanks to this investment.

The government also intends to launch three more routes the next year with a financial allocation of Rs6 million, taking in mind the demands of the staff at the Sindh secretariat. This programme demonstrates the government’s dedication to enhancing the transportation choices accessible to its residents and fostering a positive workplace culture for public employees.

The entire budget for the fiscal year 2023–2024 was presented at the budget session in the Sindh Assembly by Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, who also serves as the Finance Minister. The province’s expected impressive budget allocation of Rs2244 billion reflects the commitment of the administration to fostering growth and development across several industries.
