Atif Munsif Khan, the leader of the PTI, and nine other people were slain on Monday in Havelian, in the Abbottabad region of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, after their car was attacked by a competing party.
Umar Tufail, the Abbottabad District Police Officer (DPO), gave Dawn.com his confirmation of the development. The Havelian tehsil nazim was also the PTI leader.
The fuel tank exploded because of gunfire that a rival group allegedly fired at the car close to Havelian’s Langra village. In response to media allegations, he denied that a “rocket strike” had been intended for the car.
He claimed that Atif was among the ten passengers who perished when the car caught fire and was entirely destroyed.
