No blockage of social media sites in Pakistan - IT Minister assures

Federal IT and Telecommunication Minister Aminul Haq said that shutting down social media websites and applications is not the solution to the issue and that Pakistan has decided that no website or app will be closed in any circumstances while speaking at the ‘Accelerating US Investments in Pakistan’ event in Karachi.

Social media websites like YouTube, TikTok, and most recently Wikipedia have been outlawed in Pakistan in the past. Banning “can never be a solution,” Haq insisted. Haq vowed that any such action will go through the IT ministry, where there will no longer be a prohibition, marking a substantial change from Pakistan’s prior measures.
