Future generations won't be able to smoke cigarette in New Zealand

New Zealand has established new laws in an effort to eliminate smoking by 2025. The most recent regulation makes it illegal for anyone under the age of 14 to ever make a legal cigarette purchase. It would be a first for the entire world if smoking were to be outlawed for the younger generation.

“Thousands of individuals will live longer, healthier lives, and the health system will be $5 billion better off from not needing to treat the illnesses caused by smoking, such as multiple types of cancer, heart attacks, strokes, and amputations,” claims associate health minister Ayesha Verrall.

New Zealand will be the first nation in the world to specify the legal smoking age, which rises year. Tobacco will not be sold to anyone who was born on or after January 1, 2009.

According to The Guardian, the amount of nicotine that is legally permitted to be present in tobacco products will be significantly decreased, and they will only be able to be sold through designated tobacco stores rather than being offered in corner stores and supermarkets.

Along with these legislation, a variety of other steps to increase the cost and restrict access to smoking will be implemented.
