The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast severe rain beginning next week, bringing an end to Pakistan’s torrid weather and a sigh of relief from heatwave.
According to the latest PMD forecast, a new weather system will form across the country starting on Sunday, bringing rain from May 16 to May 18.
In Islamabad, upper and central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit Baltistan, and Azad Jammu Kashmir, there is forecast of heavy rain and thunderstorms. The PMD anticipates that temperatures in these places will drop dramatically after the rain.
In addition, the PMD has ordered that the appropriate Disaster Management Authorities be on high alert during the rainy season to prevent loss of life and property.
A severe heatwave is expected to hit Sindh, according to the PMD. The heat wave will last through May 17th, with daytime temperatures in most areas above normal.
