The Asia Cup concluded with India claiming a five-wicket victory over Pakistan, but the championship trophy remains unclaimed following a post-match standoff.

Mohsin Naqvi, Pakistan Cricket Board chief and Asian Cricket Council president, maintained that only he has the authority to present the trophy, while the Indian team declined to accept it from him.

The impasse emerged immediately after the final at Dubai International Stadium. Attempts to find a compromise, including proposals for other officials to present the trophy, did not gain traction.

The ceremony proceeded with Indian players receiving only individual awards handed out by sponsors, with host Simon Doull announcing the conclusion of the post-match presentation.

Following the event, the Board of Control for Cricket in India stated that it would not accept the trophy from Naqvi and plans to raise the matter at the International Cricket Council meeting in November. The ACC’s upcoming meeting in Dubai is also expected to discuss the issue.

Sources indicate that Naqvi has proposed a solution: he is willing to personally present the Indian team with their medals, but only if a formal function is arranged. It remains unclear whether such an event will take place, leaving the Asia Cup trophy unresolved for now.
