The German Embassy in Islamabad has announced a major change in its employment visa application process. Starting 16 June 2025, all applications must be submitted through the Consular Services Portal at digital.diplo.de/visa.
German Ambassador Alfred Grannas shared the update, stating that the new system is designed to speed up processing times and allow more visas to be issued. The embassy has also confirmed that all existing waiting lists for employment visas have been closed and will be permanently deleted.

However, applicants who already have appointments scheduled under the old system are advised to appear as planned. All others must now begin their applications afresh using the new online portal.
“This move is aimed at making the process faster and more efficient,” said Ambassador Grannas, highlighting the growing demand for German employment visas from Pakistan.
The transition to a digital system is part of broader efforts by the German Embassy to modernize its services and handle applications more effectively. Those previously on waiting lists but without confirmed appointments will need to reapply under the updated procedure.
Applicants are urged to visit the official portal on or after 16 June to initiate their visa process under the new system
