Fakhar Zaman Reacts to Rumors About His Retirement

0

Pakistan’s opening batter, Fakhar Zaman, has dismissed reports suggesting he is considering retirement, calling them baseless. The left-hander, who recently returned to the national team, suffered an injury setback during Pakistan’s match against New Zealand on February 19 in Karachi.

Fakhar sustained an oblique tear while fielding, forcing him to leave the game twice. Scans later confirmed the injury, ruling him out of the ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) announced Imam-ul-Haq as his replacement ahead of Pakistan’s crucial clash against India on February 23.

Following his exclusion from the tournament, rumors emerged about his possible retirement. However, Fakhar, currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA), rejected these claims.

“There is no truth in the retirement news,” he stated. “I will be fully fit and join the team soon.”

Fakhar Zaman, who made his international debut in 2017, has played three Tests, 86 ODIs, and 92 T20Is for Pakistan, scoring 5,691 runs, including 11 centuries and 30 fifties. His focus remains on regaining fitness and making a strong comeback.
