PCB Questions ICC Over Indian Anthem Mistake in Lahore

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has asked the International Cricket Council (ICC) for an explanation after the Indian national anthem was mistakenly played at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium.

The incident happened before the match between Australia and England. The UK’s national anthem was played correctly, but instead of Australia’s anthem, India’s anthem began playing for a brief moment before it was stopped and replaced.

A PCB official, speaking to ESPNcricinfo, blamed the ICC for the mistake. Since the tournament is under ICC’s control, the anthem playlist was prepared and managed by them.

The PCB also questioned why India’s anthem was in the playlist at all, as India is not playing any matches in Pakistan.

This is the second issue in recent days where the PCB has raised concerns with the ICC. Earlier, during India’s match against Bangladesh in Dubai, Pakistan’s name was missing from the tournament logo in the official broadcast.

The ICC called it a technical error, but the PCB was not satisfied. They were assured that such a mistake would not happen again, including in the upcoming India-Pakistan match in Dubai.

Despite the anthem mix-up, the Australia-England match was thrilling. Australia chased down a massive 351-run target, winning by five wickets with 15 balls remaining, in front of the tournament’s biggest crowd so far.
