Is Govt Planning to Send Imran Khan to Military Prison?

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Imran Khan raised concerns on Monday that he and his wife, Bushra Bibi, could be transferred to a military prison in connection with the May 9 cases.

During his interaction with media personnel at a hearing for the £190 million case, Khan said, “They intend to send me to a military prison for the May 9 incidents.”

He explained that while he had urged for peaceful protests outside the General Headquarters (GHQ) in the event of his arrest, he had never endorsed or approved any acts of violence.

Khan accused the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) of stealing CCTV footage connected to the May 9 incidents and criticized the arrest of party spokesperson Raoof Hasan. Responding to Attaullah Tarar’s claims about his VIP jail conditions, Khan invited the media to inspect his cell, stating, “If Tarar’s claims are true, he should visit me. Let the media see my cell for two minutes.”

Khan criticized the biased treatment of PTI workers held in military jails, implying that he might face similar charges. He also claimed that the Toshakhana reference was politically motivated, with selective action against him while overlooking cases involving Nawaz Sharif and Asif Ali Zardari.

Khan described instances of alleged judicial bias and police misconduct on February 8, March 14, and March 18. He stressed that his calls were for non-violent protests if arrested and denounced the mistreatment of PTI members and the influence of certain political figures on the judiciary.

Khan rejected the idea of a technocrat government as a solution to Pakistan’s problems, arguing that only transparent elections could address the country’s issues. He accused Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi of being fraudulent and acting on higher orders, and he refused to apologize for his actions, instead calling for others to apologize.
