The Punjab government has scheduled May 10 as the date for the Punjab e-bike Scheme’s balloting, aimed at providing 20,000 motorcycles to deserving students. This decision came during a meeting overseen by Punjab Minister for Transport Bilal Akbar Khan, where the progress of the scheme was assessed. Launched by Chief Minister (CM) Maryam Nawaz on April 12 under the Chief Minister Youth Initiative, the project has attracted considerable attention from students.
The number of applications has surpassed 100,000, indicating a significant level of enthusiasm for the scheme. From this pool, the balloting process will select 20,000 recipients.
The Punjab e-bike Scheme provides students with the opportunity to own motorcycles and e-bikes through a manageable monthly instalment plan.
Male students can acquire bikes with monthly payments of Rs11,676, while female students can do so for Rs7,325.

To ensure fair distribution, the scheme implements a quota system. In urban areas, the quota is evenly divided, with 50 per cent reserved for male students and 50 per cent for female students. In rural areas, the allocation differs, with 70 per cent of the quota designated for male students and 30 per cent for female students.
In Lahore, motorcycles will be allocated based on the population density of each district to promote equitable distribution.
