Company stops producing Panadol

The manufacturer of the popular over-the-counter (OTC) medications panadol and paracetamol has ceased production of both, so it’s possible that they won’t be sold in stores.

A generic medication called Panadol is used to treat fevers, minor discomfort like headaches, and the pain from immunization shots.

The reason for the company’s decision to stop producing the medicine is cost effectiveness.

The producer believes that it is no longer financially feasible to produce Panadol and has been pleading with authorities to increase the drug’s price.

The Drug Regulatory Authority of Pakistan (DRAP) reportedly sent a summary to the health ministry asking for an increase of Rs 1 per tablet, but the federal cabinet rejected the document, according to the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Association of Pakistan.

According to the association, the producer could not sell the medication for less than it cost to produce.

The pharmaceutical industry claims that all tablet production has come to an end.

Official notice has been given to DRAP that some of the pills being sold by pharmacies are fake.

Panadol is one of the most popular medicinal brands in the nation, with Punjab having the biggest demand for the medication. The medication is available in formulations for infants, kids, and adults. Panadol Extend, a sibling brand, is also one of the goods offered by the business.
