Friday’s suicide car bombing in Islamabad’s I-10/4 neighborhood injured at least six persons, including a police officer, according to a statement from the federal capital’s police.
According to police sources, the explosion happened after officers stopped a “suspect” taxi for snap checking.
The Islamabad police said in a tweet that when the suspicious car was signalled to stop, officers were snap-checking.
“A suicide bomber aboard the vehicle detonated a bomb soon after the car stopped near the officers,” it said.
Police officers who had been hurt were taken to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif sought a report of the suicide bombing shortly after the explosion and denounced the terrorist incident.
